Investing.com -- Data center operators and other buyers of Hyliion's (NYSE: HYLN) KARNO generators will be responsible for sourcing their own fuel, including securing pipeline natural gas or arranging on-site diesel storage, according to Chief Executive Thomas Healy in an interview with Investing.com.
Following the company's second-quarter results on August 11, Healy said fuel supply and storage fall to the customer rather than Hyliion, an arrangement that puts a key piece of on-site power economics on buyers as the company courts data center demand.
"Customers are responsible for supplying the fuel used to operate the KARNO Power Module," Healy said.
He added that many data center customers would likely rely on pipeline natural gas where available, while others may use diesel stored on site, adding that the generator's ability to run on more than 20 fuel sources gives buyers flexibility and potential redundancy.
