The Indian rupee started the session with marginal losses against the US dollar on September 9, weighed down by a further rise in oil prices, which would test the central bank's ability to cushion the currency.

The rupee opened almost flat at 94.87 per dollar, compared with Monday’s close of 94.82.

According to Finrex, the rupee is expected to open around 94.85 per dollar and trade in the 94.50-95.25 range, with Brent crude holding near $99.25 a barrel.

Importers are expected to buy on dips, while exporters may step in to sell above 95.00. The RBI's intervention will be closely watched, with the central bank potentially helping protect the 95.00 per dollar level during the session, it added.
