Wall Street futures declined, indicating a weak start for US equities as oil prices breached the USD 100-a-barrel mark for the first time since July amid deepening tensions in West Asia, while investors remained cautious ahead of inflation data due later in the week.

US Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's focus on controlling prices has also led traders to expect a hike in borrowing costs this month. Markets now see a 62.4 percent chance of a 25-basis-point increase in interest rates when the central bank meets next week, reported Reuters.

Nasdaq 100 futures fell 0.7 percent, while S&P 500 futures slipped 0.45 percent. Dow futures declined 0.75 percent.

In Asian markets, South Korea's Kospi and Shanghai's SSE Composite index ended higher, while Japan's Nikkei 225 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index settled lower.

Back home, benchmark stock indices fell for the third straight day, with the Sensex tumbling 813 points to a three-month low and the Nifty settling below 23,450, as selling pressure was seen in IT, FMCG, financial services and oil and gas shares.
