Investing.com - Euro zone sovereign bond yields held near multi-year high watermarks on Thursday morning, with fixed-income desks bracing for the European Central Bank's imminent interest rate announcement as energy-driven inflation risks cemented bets on further monetary tightening.
The European Central Bank is widely expected to deliver a 25-basis-point interest rate increase at its Governing Council meeting in Frankfurt later in the day, bringing its benchmark deposit facility rate up to 2.50%.
The policy decision has kept borrowing costs tightly anchored across the continent. Germany's policy-sensitive two-year Schatz yield hovered near 3.037%, remaining close to its highest levels in two years.
Further out the curve, the benchmark German 10-year Bund yield held firm at 3.432%, lingering just below its 15-year high touched earlier in the week as traders awaited updated macroeconomic projections and policy guidance from President Christine Lagarde.
