Investing.com -- Pinterest Inc shares fell over 8% on Wednesday, reaching their lowest intraday level since May 21, after Chief Executive Officer Bill Ready spoke at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference.
Ready repeated comments he made during the company's second-quarter conference call in August about challenges facing the international business. The company's operations outside the United States face pressure on two fronts, he said.
First, new regulations in Europe have placed limits on cross-border sellers from Asia. Second, Pinterest is restructuring its international business and its go-to-market strategy, similar to changes it previously made in the United States.
The U.S. restructuring involved improvements to the company's AI-based advertising platform and a significant overhaul of its go-to-market approach. "We're basically taking that playbook from the US," Ready said.
