Foreign institutional investors turned net sellers on Tuesday, offloading Rs 583 crore of Indian equities, while domestic institutional investors bought a net Rs 1,509 crore, according to NSE data.
FIIs bought shares worth Rs 16,393 crore and sold Rs 16,976 crore. DIIs, meanwhile, bought Rs 18,131 crore and sold Rs 16,622 crore.
With Tuesday’s flows, FIIs have remained net sellers in four of the first six trading sessions of September. Their net buying for the month stands at ₹2,531 crore, while DIIs have bought a net Rs 20,484 crore so far in September.
On a year-to-date basis, FIIs have now sold a net Rs 3.57 lakh crore in the cash market, while DIIs have invested about Rs 5.84 lakh crore.
Indian equities are likely to remain under pressure amid weak global cues, a sharp rise in crude prices and continued concerns over supply disruptions following the latest escalation in US-Iran hostilities around the Strait of Hormuz.
