In a volatile session on September 9, Indian equity indices ended lower, with the Nifty slipping below the 23,450 mark as selling pressure intensified across most sectoral indices, led by IT and realty stocks.
Amid escalating US-Iran tensions and rising crude oil prices, markets opened lower and remained range-bound through the session. Although a recovery attempt emerged in the afternoon, it failed to sustain, with the benchmarks ending at the day’s low.
At close, the Sensex was down 813.35 points or 1.08 percent at 74,764.23, and the Nifty was down 203.60 points or 0.86 percent at 23,431.50, a three-month low.
